Dr Shannon McDermott
Dr Shannon McDermott is originally from San Francisco, California, and joined the Social Policy Research Centre of the University of NSW after completing her PhD in 2007. Shannon conducts research in the fields of mental health, ageing, and disability, focusing in particular on how vulnerable people in these groups are supported by the service system. She is also interested in critical theory and has taught courses on social policy and sociological theory.
Shannon has strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research design, as well as program and policy evaluation. She is currently conducting an independent evaluation of Catholic Community Services Severe Domestic Squalor Program.
